Half Marathon 2, September 30th 2007
Report by Ray Johnson, Race Director I am pleased to report we had a very successful day with 732 registrations. The event went extremely well and assistance was received with sincere thanks from members of the Folkestone Rotary Club and Hythe, Canterbury & Channel Rotary Clubs. Folkestone Running Club, the Girl Guides, other running clubs and the local community also assisted with the event. I would also like to thank Shepway District Council & Kent County Council and Kent Police for their support. The weather was good and the winner has broken the course record, Michael Coleman – Medway AC at 1 hour 11 minutes and 10 seconds. The first female home, Emma Wilson from London broke the women’s record at 1 hour, 24 minutes and 24 seconds – not bad for her first ever Half Marathon! The full results (as an Excel spreadsheet) are available here. (Please note that an incorrect version was placed here earlier. If you accessed the results before 18.50 on Wednesday October 3rd, please delete that version and download this correct one). If you have given us your email address, the results will be dispatched to you in due course. In addition, they will be published on www.folkestonerotary.org website and within the Kent Messenger Group newspaper’s Sports section. You can also purchase a copy from the KM Group by visiting www.thekmgroup.co.uk (Folkestone KM Express addition). This year we have teamed up with EF8, www.ef8.co.uk who may have your photograph available for purchase online. Simply put in your race number and see if you can find your picture. Many of you have been raising money for charities; please return your sponsorship form, if we have provided this to you, as soon as possible. Alternatively, just drop me an email and let me know how much you have raised and for which charity, as it would be great to establish the grand total connected to this race. Next year’s race will be on the Sunday 28th September 2008 and I would hope you will choose to return to our popular event. You can now book online at www.runnersworld.co.uk/events Thanks for your participation. |
